With the expectation of Android 4.4 KitKat and Nexus 5 release date running high, the Google Play Event in New York City tonight seems like a perfect time to reveal the new device. However, a Google spokesperson has told Electronista that it won't happen.

The Google press event is scheduled for October 24 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT in New York City. Google sent out invites and will feature “music movies, games and a special performance by Capital Cities.”
