Apple has announced that the latest desktop operation system - OS X 10.9 Mavericks- will be available to download today for free.
Apple says there are 200 new features crammed into this update. Mavericks will feature tighter integration between the Mac OS-based hardware and the iOS devices with programs like iBook, which will sync your library across all of your devices, Mac OS and iOS alike.
Mavericks will also include Maps, which is also built into other programs like Calender, Mail, and Contacts. Apple also said Safari performance will increase, which the Web browser now shows you links that your friends have shared on social networks like Twitter or Facebook. The Reader view has also been brushed up.
Apple also promises a more efficiently running CPU and a longer battery life, after reorganizing the way apps run and inactive memory is saved and compressed.
