The large Duggar family is about to get even bigger, as news broke Wednesday that Jill Duggar, who recently wed Derick Dillard, is pregnant with the couple's first child.
"We're having a baby!" Jill told PEOPLE magazine. "We are so excited."
According to People, after taking several pregnancy tests that came back negative, Jill's sisters convinced her to take one of her mom Michelle's tests while she and Derick were visiting her parents' home. This time, the test came out positive.
"It was surreal," says Derick. "We were shocked. Both of us are so excited."
The couple, who are due in March, made the announcement to their family before breaking it to the world.
"About 30 days after Jill and Derick got married they gathered everyone in the living room and shared the news," Jim Bob, 49, tells PEOPLE. "Everyone was clapping and cheering, and we were in shock, too."
Charlotte Triggs of People magazine said Dillard wants to give birth at home because it's "way more comfortable and relaxed."
She added: "Jill's actually a trained midwife and she's assisted on 70 births herself so she kind of knows what she's doing."
Jill, 23, told People that she's experiencing terrible morning sickness but says her husband has been very supportive.
Jill is the second oldest Duggar daughter and the first to marry. The couple was set up by Jill's father, Jim Bob Duggar, who met Derick, 25, while doing humanitarian work in Nepal.
"I thought he and Jill had a lot in common and would hit it off," Jim Bob told Today at the time. "Needless to say, they haven't stopped talking since. They're a match made in heaven and Michelle and I couldn't be more thrilled."
Jill and Derick married June 21 in Springdale, Arkansas after a whirlwind engagement, shared their first kiss in front of more than 1,000 family and friends and then celebrated with them at a reception.
"We're just really trying to keep our relationship focused not on the physical but really just more on communication and continuing to learn more about each other," the reality TV star, who appears in TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," explained to ABC News after her engagement in April. "We're saving our first kiss and things beyond that for our wedding."
However, both hoped to have children very soon after their marriage. Jill Dillard told ABC News that in addition to having biological children, they hope to adopt as well.
"Both of us want as many kids as God will give us," she said. "My parents have kept popping them out so we'll see how [our] fertility is!"
"We'll just see what God brings along and it's exciting," added Derick.
The couple's wedding will be featured in the upcoming season of "19 Kids and Counting," which will air on TLC on September 2.
