The mystery boat update has finally arrived. Dubbed as "The Builder Base", the new update comes with new buildings, troops, and spells. And yes, the much-awaited 1-on-1 battle mode is now available. It lets gamers do a head to head battle with the enemy. However, users of Apple devices that run on iOS 7.x or lower would have problems with the new Clash of Clans update.
Apple recently announced that they will end support for the older Apple OS devices to focus on the newer ones. So, the new Clash of Clans update would not be available for gamers who are using older Apple devices that run on older iOS versions.
1st generation iPad, the iPhone 3G S, and the iPhone Touch (3rd and the 4th generation) will not receive new updates. For readers who own these devices and wish to play the new COC update, they are advised to switch to a newer gadget. As for Apple fans who still use iOS 7, it is recommended to upgrade to the latest iOS 10.
The Builder Base update looks like Clash of Clans at night on the surface, but it has plenty of exciting features under the hood. According to the game's official website, units now have special abilities that can be used at the beginning of clashes. For example, Archers are now invisible for a few seconds and Barbarians has "rage" boost.
Interestingly, there are new troops that longtime COC players will really enjoy. First, there's Bomber who can throw big bombs that can tear down buildings in one shot. Also meet Cannon Cart, a four-wheel fortification that can be brought to the front line.
The new battle system is one of the most interesting additions in the new update. This allows you to take on enemies in a head-to-head attacking matchup, similar to Clash Royale. The winner receives a hefty bonus and trophies from the fight, putting much emphasis on winning and less on collecting resources through raids.
Meanwhile, some gaming experts say the new update might have been released as a sequel for Clash of Clans 2. Considering the massiveness of the update, it is not hard to imagine that this could be a teaser for the next chapter in the popular mobile game.
It is estimated that Clash of Clans earned more than 1 billion US dollars in 2016. Market research firm App Annie also ranked the mobile game as one of the top 10 downloads in the strategy category in Google PlayStore and Apple App Store.
