Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to see a wide release later this year. The exact launch date is still a closely guarded secret over at Google. Naturally, Motorola is expected to roll out the upcoming Android update on a number of its top devices. For this article, we will look at the update situation for the Moto G 1st Gen, Moto G 2nd Gen, Moto G 3rd Gen, Moto E 2013 and Moto E 2014.

How Soon Will Motorola Roll Out Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Meanwhile, Google has already the third and last version of the developer's edition of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. That means the upcoming Android OS will be available soon.

Even so, it will take time for Android Marshmallow to reach most consumers. Major manufacturers including Motorola will need to integrate the new Android into their devices. Afterwards, domestic wireless service providers will need to run the obligatory soak tests before rolling out Android Marshmallow on a public scale.

With Android 6.0 Marshmallow coming soon, Motorola seems to be skipping Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Fortunately, a number of previous bug fixes will make it to the Android Marshmallow.

Moto G Series

Rumors on the web claim that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be available to at least the Moto G 3rd Gen and Moto G 2nd Gen. These two devices are after all the latest in their series. According to Neurogadget, the updates may come anywhere between January and February 2016. Naturally, this prediction should be taken with a grain of salt given there is a lack of official confirmation.

Unfortunately, there is word that Motorola will not be bringing the latest Android update to the older first-generation Moto G. Based on a Geek Snack report, the original Moto X may also not receive the Marshmallow update.

Moto E Series

At this time, the rumor mill has been unusually silent regarding whether the Moto E series will be getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Motorola has not confirmed whether the Moto E 2013 and Moto E 2014 will be getting the future firmware. So for now, Moto E users will need to wait for further updates.
