Prince Williams unwittingly created a buzz that his wife Kate Middleton is pregnant and expecting their third baby last week during an interview with Sky News.
"We've only just had the second one. You never know what is going to happen in the future," the 33-year-old Duke of Cambridge said when asked if he and wife Kate are planning on expanding their family after reporting on his first day as an air ambulance pilot for East Anglian.
Prince William's statement quickly fan speculations the royal family is expecting a third child not long after the birth of their daughter Princess Charlotte.
This early, bookies in the UK have opened bets that Prince Williams and Kate will announce a third baby as early as next year, reported Mirror. Bookmaker Coral placed the odds of 6-4 the royal couple will announce a pregnancy in 2016 and 2-1 odds in 2017.
Coral's Nicola McGeady said, "Royal baby betting went through the roof in the lead up to Princess Charlotte's birth and the odds suggest that we won't have to wait much longer before Will and Kate announce baby number three."
People quoted Kate's uncle in April as saying that indeed the couple want to have more than two children. "Whatever this baby is, there'll be another one," the report quoted a family member as saying.
The Daily Telegraph has claimed that the 33-year-old Kate has told her close friends that she wanted a third baby before she turns 35. That might be the reason Prince George and Prince Charlotte were born two years apart. The Duchess of Cambridge also said she wanted to give her children the same type of family environment she grew up with. Kate has two siblings.
Meanwhile, Prince Williams congratulated Kate for her "amazing" mothering skills and added he is enjoying his role as a father of his two kids. "It has been fantastic, and she has been a little joy of heaven," Prince Williams said referring to Princess Charlotte. "But at the same time it is more responsibility, looking after two little ones, especially when George is around. He's a little monkey."
He spoke of Kate, "It is fantastic having a lovely little family, and I am so thrilled. Catherine has been doing an amazing job as a mother, and I'm very proud of her."
The prince added that he is excited over his new job as he pledges to fulfill his duties as a pilot, royal and a father, reported Parent Herald.
"At the moment I'm juggling the two of them, and a young family. I'm enjoying it, and I like the challenge, but yes, inevitably down the line, things will probably become a little bit more difficult for me to do that. But while I'm still relatively young, I can manage the two jobs as best I can," he said.
