After Josh and Anna Duggar announced the birth of their fourth child, Meredith Grace Duggar, over the weekend, various members of their extended family took to social media to express their excitement.
The former TLC reality stars, both 27, announced the birth of their daughter on Twitter and shared two shots of the newborn, including a close-up of her face.
Baby Meredith, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 14 oz. and 20.5 inches long, joins big siblings Marcus, 2, Michael, 4, and Mackynzie, 5. "Anna and Meredith are resting & doing well!" Josh captioned a photo of his wife and their daughter.
Josh's parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, took to their family blog on Sunday to express their excitement at the birth of their sixth grandbaby.
"Anna did an amazing job through labor...I really think this was her best labor yet!" Michelle said. "We are just rejoicing with Josh and Anna; sweet little Meredith grace is beautiful and I know [her siblings] are loving having her sister here!"
"I'll tell you what, we love our grandkids," added Jim Bob
Josh's sister Jessa (Duggar) Seewald, who is expecting her first child in November, took to Instagram to congratulate the couple: "My beautiful niece! So excited to welcome little Meredith Grace Duggar into the world!" she captioned a photo of the little girl.
Josh and Anna's baby news comes just three days after TLC announced they would be cancelling 19 Kids and Counting. The decision was reporteldy made two months after the show was suspended in the wake of a molestation scandal involving Josh and five underage girls, including two of his sisters, Jessa and Jill.
"After thoughtful consideration, TLC and the Duggar family have decided to not move forward with '19 Kids and Counting,'" the network said at the time. "The show will no longer appear on the air. The recent attention around the Duggars has sparked a critical and important conversation about child protection."
After the story broke in May, Josh expressed remorse for what happened and resigned from his position as a director with the consevative organization Family Research Council. Anna also released a statement at the time explaining she had forgiven her husband for his "past mistakes" and was confident he had "humbled himself before God."
The couple, who married in 2008, subsequently relocated from Washington, D.C. to Tontitown, Arkansas earlier this year to be with Josh's family
Over the past several months, Josh has spent time focusing on his family, celebrating Anna's birthday and thanking Jim Bob for helping him "through hard times."
"I know that your investment in each one of our lives is priceless, and we're so grateful for you," Josh tweeted on Father's Day.
