American actor Willie Robertson said he believed pro-life Christian and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal should run for president in 2016.
"He's a great man. He's a Godly man," Robertson said in an interview on Fox Talk Radio 's "Kilmeade and Friends" on Monday. "He's honest, and so I'd like to see if he makes a run at it, and, you know, if so, we'll definitely be trying to help him out."
The "Duck Dynasty" star also said his good friend Jindal, the first Indian American governor in the United States, is an "obvious" choice and is someone who is "different."
Robertson said that he met Jindal even before the latter was a governor, and got amazed by him during his preaching in a local church.
"[Jindal] stood up and preached. He wasn't really political, he just told about his own relationship with the Lord. It was very impressive to us," Robertson told host Brian Kilmeade. "I know the values he has... and that guy is one of the smartest persons I've ever known."
The 43-year-old governor has a 100-percent pro-life voting record according to the National Right to Life Committee, and is famous for his anti-abortion and anti-same sex marriage stance.
"He is young but he's got the values and he's got the intelligence. I would love to see him run and I'd love for him to get into the mix," Robertson said.
Robertson and Jindal share not just the same hometown Louisiana, but also the same faith as Christians. The 43-year-old actor is known for preaching about Jesus, being a member of the Churches of Christ.
Jindal, meanwhile, was raised in a Hindu household, but was converted to Christianity in high school and was received into the Roman Catholic Church during his first year at Brown University.
Robertson's wife Korie, who was with him on the radio show, said Jindal's spouse Supriya Jolly is "brilliant and beautiful, as well."
"She (Supriya) and I did an awareness program for forter care in the state of Louisiana to bring awareness on kids that need homes," Korie said. "She's very passionate. I think they're great."
The Bobby Jindal for President 2016 Facebook page already has 2,680 Likes as of press time, even before the governor makes a final announcement on his possible candidacy.
Jindal earlier told Fox News that he will make a decision on whether or not he will run for Republican presidential nomination, shortly after the state legislature concludes on June 11.
