The Duggar family of the hit TLC show recently revealed their beautiful Christmas card as matriarch Michelle Duggar shares some of the family's favorite holiday traditions.
Set against a snow-fleeced winter wonderland, the stunning photo shows parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar with their 19 children, three children-in-law, three (soon-to-be four) grandchildren, and Jim Bob's mom, Mary.
The words, "Happy Birthday Jesus" and "Merry Christmas from the Duggar Family" are written on the card as well as the following Bible passage taken from Isaiah 9:6:
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulders: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Christmas is one of the Duggar's favorite holidays, as it is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and spend time with family. Last year, Michelle shared in a blog post some traditions the family observes during the season.
"It's an exciting time. We decorate. It's a big birthday party for Jesus. We make banners and put them all around the house and put out our nativity scene. We've got a big beautiful nativity that has the Christ child in the manger, Joseph and Mary and some of the wise men and the shepherds. That goes out on our counter and then we surround it with pretty white lights. And so, that's our big emphasis."
Michelle explained that while her family enjoys baking, cooking and gift giving, she and Jim Bob try very hard to keep their kids focused "on the real meaning of Christmas," and not on Santa or the more commercial aspects of the season.
"Our goal [is] to bring out the real meaning of Christmas. It [is] Christ's day, the holy day of mass, Christ mass and what we're celebrating is the day that Christ was born..."
"I hope and pray that my children know that when they come out of our home and start their own homes that the central focus truly was the birth of Christ and how he set the example giving his life, how we in turn should be truly grateful for what Christ gave," she wrote.
"And as we in turn give from our hearts the joy that God has given us, giving to others is really what I would hope that my children come away with as the focus of celebrating the Christmas season."
