Final Score Update: South Korea's Yuna Kim is the winner of the women's figure skating short program at Sochi 2014 with a score of 74.92, just slightly higher than No.2 Russian Adelina Sotnikova, 74.64. Italy's Carolina Kostner was third with 74.12.

The highly anticipated women's figure skating is coming up on Wednesday at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, defending Olympic champion Yuna Kim of South Korea, Russia's rising star Julia Lipnitskaia and Japan's Mao Asada are the favorites for the three medals this year.
The short program will take place on Wednesday, Feb 19 at 10a.m. EST, and the free skating program will start on Thursday, Feb 20 at 10a.m. EST. For the complete skating order, please visit www.sochi2014.com.
For the USA team, Gracie Gold, Ashley Wagner and Polina Edmunds will compete in the women figure skating events this Wednesday and Thursday.
Yuna kim (South Korea)
At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Yuna Kim took gold and scored South Korea's first-ever figure skating medal. The 23-year-old superstar boasts the highest scores ever recorded in short programme, free skate and combined. She has not skated as much as before Sochi as she did before Vancouver as she has been troubled by a foot injury, but still managed to win the 2011 and 2013 World Championships. Kim has already announced she will retire after the Sochi Olympics. (Video)
Julia Lipnitskaya (Russia)
Julia Lipnitskaya has emerged as one of the rising stars for Russia after she helped her nation to win the team gold at Sochi Olympics. Last month she became the youngest skater to win the European Championships, she has also become the youngest Russian ever to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. (Video)
Mao Asada (Japan)
Asada won the silver medal in Vancouver Olympics, she is one of the few women who can perform a triple Axel in her free skate, one of the toughest jumps in figure skating. She landed three triple axels at the 2010 Winter Games, and got her name into the Guinness Book of World Records. (Video)
Asada said she plans to perform eight triple jumps- triple axel, lutz, flip, loop, salchow, and toe loop -- in her free program at Sochi 2014.
