In Norway, a 10-year-old boy was caught riding around in his parents' car--with his 18-month-old sister.
"The parents woke up and discovered that the children were missing and that someone had taken off with their car. They were pretty upset, as you can imagine," Bard Christiansen, a Vest Oppland Police spokesman, told Reuters. "The boy told the snowplow driver that he was a dwarf and that he had forgotten his driver's licence at home."
Apparently, the boy has just as much nerve as he does imagination!
The boy "woke up at night, his sister was also awake and he decided to take her for a ride," said Officer Kai Lyshuagen.
But he wasn't out just riding for the heck of it. He intended to take himself and his sister to their grandparents' house which is approximately 37 miles away from his parents' home. He only made it six miles before losing control of the car, plowing into a snowy ditch, and remaining until a snowplow driver found him.
When queried about his whereabouts and intentions, the little boy told the snowplow driver that he was simply a dwarf that had forgotten to bring his driver's license.
All of this took place on Wednesday, February 12th, in Dokka, Norway which is located about 68 miles north of the capital, Oslo. The children's ride was said to be around 6am local time.
"This seems to have happened on an impulse," stated Officer Lyshaugen to The Dagbladet by way of The Local.
When found, the boy was not wearing a seatbelt, but "asked for help to tow his vehicle so they could continue their journey," said Lyshaugen.
Thankfully, neither the boy, nor his sister, were hurt.
"We have talked to them, and I'm pretty sure they're going to pay very close attention both to their children and to their car keys in the future," Christiansen said of the children's parents.
