With some of the world's top tennis players displaying great form again, the U.S. Open 2013 is headed towards a dynamic finish.
Saturday's action will see the men's semifinals play out as No. 1 Novak Djokovic takes on No. 9 Stanislas Wawrinka, and No. 2 Rafael Nadal takes on No. 8 Richard Gasquet.
Top seed Djokovic will face Wawrinka this afternoon, whom upset defending champion Andy Murray 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open. Wawrinka is in his first Grand Slam semi-final but he is more confident than ever, especially after beating Murray.
Murray, a 26-year-old Scot, was the Olympic gold medalist last summer and Wimbledon winner this summer, and was 17-1 in Grand Slam play this year.
Nadal has been in superb form at Flushing Meadows, yet to drop serve and extending his unbeaten record on hard courts this year to 20-0. A year after skipping the U.S. Open because of a bad left knee, Nadal powered his way back to the semifinals by overwhelming 19th-seeded Tommy Robredo 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday night.
The Men's Singles Semifinals will start at noon at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Djokovic vs. Wawrinka matchup will be first, followed by the Nadal vs. Gasquet match, and finishing with the women's doubles final.
