This month, Lausanne World Pulse (LWP), a new online publication, was launched "to support the advancement of the gospel worldwide by providing missions and evangelism news, information and analysis."
At the 2004 Forum for World Evangelization in Thailand, leaders met together to explore how God might be calling them to advance the gospel.
LWP was born as a result to be the "official online magazine of the Lausanne movement."
The Co-Publisher of LWP, Lon Allison said, "The task of world evangelization is formidable and far from complete," but "one advantage we have today is the availability of instantaneous and comprehensive communication."
While, "some would say it is impossible and suggest that we select a more obtainable goal. The reality is…our calling comes from our leader and guide, Jesus Christ," he said as he introduced LWP.
The online publication, derived from the name World Pulse, a magazine that cease to operate in August 2004 but had many editions such as Latin American Pulse, Asia Pulse, and China Pulse, will take on the similar mission of reporting on evangelism and mission efforts.
It will collaborate with Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization (Lausanne), Institute of Strategic Evangelism (ISE), Evangelism and Mission Information Service (EMIS), and the Intercultural Studies Department (ISD) at Wheaton College, Wheaton IL.
Recalling how far Lausanne has come in its mission, Allison said, "When I think of the men and women who birthed the Lausanne movement, I stand in awe. They were giants of the faith, at least in our estimation. Now, it our turn."
