2004 "Prescription for Renewal" conference has been scheduled for October 8. The conference will be held in one of the several convention centers located in Shenandoah National Park in Luray, Viginia.
"Prescription for Renewal" conference is a gathering of Christian physicians and nurses. The conference is a chance for doctors and nurses to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains during a relaxing and renewing weekend of fellowship, testimonies, and Bible teaching tailored for medical professionals interested in the mission field.
Doctors and nurses attending Prescription for Renewal can earn Category 1 CME credit at an optional Missionary Medicine Seminar on October 7-8.
The conference is part of World Medical Mission, a medical ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. World Medical Mission was founded in 1978 by Franklin Graham when he accepted invitations from 2 surgeon brothers, Drs. Lowell and Richard Furman to lead the organization.
The purpose of the ministry is to offer patients a greater hope through the eternal healing of the Great Physician, Jesus Christ. The ministry provides evangelical mission hospitals and clinics with the resources they need— equipment, supplies, and Christian physicians and biomedical technicians—to treat their patients while standing as a shining witness of God's love through Jesus Christ.
The motivation behind this effort is to go and "heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you'". In remote areas around the world, missionary medicine is one of the most effective means of evangelism available. Each year the hospitals we serve are used by God to lead thousands of people to faith in Jesus Christ.
Prescription for Renewal conference is $325. Missionary Medicine Seminar is $225. Fees are per person and include materials and meals. For Missionary Medicine Seminar participants, spouses may attend sessions and eat meals without charge as guests. For information: 1-828-298-2092
