Bethesda E3 2017 Showcase Is a Big Disappointment: No Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6

Jun 14, 2017 09:31 AM EDT

Bethesda unleashed a plethora of new games in its E3 2017 presentation. Gamers were excited to hear about updates on Fallout series and Elders Scrolls franchise, but they left the building disappointed. However, the Rockville-based gaming company announced some treats for avid gamers.

Publisher/developer Bethesda is still considered as a newcomer in E3 press conferences. Bethesda first appeared on E3 stage two years ago, while big companies like Ubisoft, EA, and Sony have been holding stage presentation for years. Nevertheless, Bethesda's Fallout 4 and Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim games are some of the best titles that were released in major gaming platforms.

Now, let's see what we can expect from the company in the next few months.

Fallout 5 News and Release Date

With the success of Fallout 4, many gamers are wondering if there will be Fallout 5. The series has brought profits to Bethesda, and it would not be surprising if the company makes an announcement this fall for the sixth major installment in the Fallout series. This is just a wild guess, but not really too far-fetched.

There also rumors about Fallout: New Orleans, which could be a spin-off to the Obsidian-developed Fallout: New Vegas. Obsidian reportedly posted a strange, cryptic image on their website called "Project Louisiana." For those unfamiliar with US geography, New Orleans is the biggest state in Louisiana. However, Bethesda and Obsidian have not confirmed the development of Fallout: New Orleans.

While is still unknown if Fallout 5 is already in the works, Bethesda launched the trailer for Fallout 4 VR. The 1-minute trailer shows the familiar crafting and customization mechanics of the 2015 game. For a very immersive environment, Fallout 4 seems like a perfect fit for virtual reality gaming.

Fallout 4 VR releases on October 2017 on HTC Vive platform. Check out the game's trailer below.

Elder Scrolls 6 News and Release Date

After the announcement of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition last year, many anticipated this year would be the year for Skyrim 6. However, Elder Scrolls 6 was not present on Bethesda's presentation on Sunday. In a recent interview, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines revealed why there's no announcement on the game last weekend.

Hines said two major titles are taking priority at Bethesda Game Studios. He added Skyrim 6 is not yet a priority for the studio. So, it might take more time before we hear the announcement of the next Elder Scrolls game.

Of course, Bethesda does not want to leave gamers out in the open. The gaming company revealed Skyrim VR lands to PlayStation VR this November. This VR game takes the full game of similar title with plenty of additional features.

Bethesda also introduced Creation Club for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim players. The program releases summer 2017 on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. The Creation Club gives players unlimited access to all new armors, accessories, weapons and housing features in Skyrim and Fallout games.

With that being said, what are your thoughts about Bethesda's presentation at E3 2017? Let us know in the comments.
