Ahead of Super Mario Odyssey's demo in E3 2017, Universal Studios has announced its plans for the much-awaited Super Mario World theme park in Japan. During the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, company officials said there would be plenty of rides that are similar to Mario video games.
The Super Mario theme park is reportedly expanding further as developers expect many tourists will go to Japan for the 2020 Olympics. Based on the park's first teaser, the Super Nintendo World in Osaka is going to have a Mushroom Kingdom entrance that is similar to the classic Disneyland castle design. The walkway all around the park is also inspired from classic Mario titles. There's grassy terrain, giant mushroom pads, ice blocks, and colorful boxes. Interestingly, visitors can also have an exciting racing game in Mario Kart area.
Of course, the park will have an array of restaurants, shops, attractions that are patterned in Super Mario universe.
Universal Studios officials revealed the Super Mario Park in Japan opens in 2020. It still unknown if the park will also be built in the United States. See the photos of the park below.

Meanwhile, many fans are now looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey's demo at E3 2017, which kicks off next week.
The gameplay of Super Mario Odyssey is similar to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sun. It is a single-player game that is set in broad landscapes. Players can jump over pits and stomp on Goombas to explore different locations of the game.
Odyssey has plenty of new areas. One of the first areas that we see in the trailer is New Donk City, which is apparently inspired by New York City. It is a bustling town filled with hurrying commuters and yellow cabs. Besides, it has tall skyscrapers and building sites that can be explored. In the trailer, there's a scene where Mario jumped off from the rooftop of an Empire of State-like building.
In teasers available on Youtube, Mario is seen interacting with humans, jumping on top of taxi cabs, and swinging over street lamps.
Mario's hat will have a bigger role in his adventures. We still don't know the full abilities of the red hat, but it'll likely work as a power-up for our hero. It might have a function like a Cat Mario or a Super Mushroom. There's a clip in the teaser showing Mario in front of a hat store. So, it looks we will be able to make lots customizations in Mario's new headwear
The game is scheduled to become available in December 2017, making it a perfect gift for Holiday season. We'll hear more about Super Mario Odyssey at E3 2017.
