To end all speculations and rumors, a recent post from Anandtech shows Intel's next generation processors are now underway. In fact, you may avail Intel's next generation chipsets before the end of May. The seventh edition of Skylake processors, the Core i9, will definitely boost your PC's performance as they are packed with high-end parts to meet your computing needs.
According to Digital Trends, Intel will release four versions of Core i9 chips, giving you plenty of options according to your needs and budget. The new Intel chips would have a minimum of six cores and 12 threads and would range from a 3.5GHz base up to 4.0GHz Turbo 2.0. The chips would have thermal design power to run at a scorching 140 watts.
In a leaked image that is now circulating around the internet, the upcoming next generation of Intel processors would be riding on the LGA-2066 architecture. If this is true, the new Core i9 chips would definitely build a strong lineup of top-of-the-line desktop CPUs.
To rival AMD's Ryzen processors, the low-end Core i9 chips, i9-7800X and i9-7820X, will have six and eight cores respectively. Of course, Intel will offer higher clock speeds and support for more PCIe lanes - both are important to support the powerful components of your desktop. Intel's Core i9-7800X and i9-7820X models could become available on June 2017 and might be priced around $1000 in the United States.
If you have more budget and looking for top-end models, you'll definitely like the Core i9-7900X and i9-7920X. The former has 10 hyper-threaded cores while the latter has 12 cores. Latest reports say the Core i9-7900X will also become available on June together with its two siblings. However, if you want the top-shelf Core i9-7920X, you have the wait longer as it might become available in August.
Interestingly, buyers of the top-end chip will get a massive 16.5MB of L3 cache, the toughest and fastest memory bank available in the market today. It doubles Intel's current consumer chip, the i7-7700K, which only have 8MB of cache.
With these developments, it looks like Intel is now moving their focus into untapped PC market, according to Techspot. The upcoming flagship chipset of the company is expected to rival the latest chips from AMD and Ryzen once again.
