Jessica Jones Season 2 has begun its filming, and you can be sure that anticipation of the series will continue to build up in time to come. After all, Jessica Jones is one of the members of The Defenders, and The Defenders recently wrapped up its filming for its first season just last month. Hence, work is coming in thick and fast, with filming for the second season of this solo superhero show kicks off. The first season of Jessica Jones garnered its fair share of praise, which is very different from what Iron Fist experienced, limping onto the scene as expectations bombed.
The first season of Jessica Jones was certainly a crowd puller, as the series dealt with serious, real life issues such as PTSD as well as sexual assault. According to CBR.com, filming for the second season of Jessica Jones has already started over at Broadway and West 101st Street, which so happens to be the location that was used for the exterior of Jessica’s (whom Krysten Ritter stars as) apartment.
To say that expectations for Jessica Jones season 2 is high would be an understatement. After all, many people would be wondering just who would be the main antagonist in Jessica’s life, now that her most famous villain, Kilgrave, is no longer around. This is certainly something worth following in order to find out more, and several theories have been put forward on who would be the anti-thesis to what Jessica holds dear and close to her heart.
We do know that Janet McTeer has been cast in a mystery role, where she has been described to be “an undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.” Janet McTeer made her name in her role as Queen Elizabeth’s mother in The White Queen, and this English actress has remained mum on whether she will be a hero, or on the opposite side of where Jessica stands. Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb did shed a wee bit of light on the situation, but did not reveal anything groundbreaking either, citing that McTeer’s character will fit within the world of Jessica Jones like a frankfurter is to a hot dog bun.
Loeb shared, ““We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”
In other news, Daredevil Season 3 is preparing its crew for a shoot this fall, as Daredevil star Charlie Cox was approached concerning the third season of the TV series as he appeared on the podcast Film and Telly Stuff with Luke and Al. Cox shared, "I do that later in the year. We’ll go back and do that." In other words, filming will kick off for Daredevil Season 3 perhaps in the fall, or winter at the latest. Only time will reveal more.
