The New Orleans Saints are reaching the end their quarterback luck as Drew Bees, who turned 38 last January, might be retiring soon. Pretty much like the concerns of the New York Giants with Eli Manning and Pittsburgh Steelers with Ben Roethlisberger, the Michael Thomas team is now on the lookout for a reliable replacement to their leader. Hence, a Colin Kaepernick contract is said to be on its way to the Mark Ingram, Jr squad soon.
The former San Francisco 49ers star finally made the decision to release the Colin Kaepernick contract from their roster in an effort to rebuild this offseason. However, many believe that the political beliefs of Kap pushed him out of the NFL team and into unemployment this season. Will the New Orleans Saints be willing to sign him despite these issues?
"I think that topic exists and has existed because of the nature of the position," said Sean Payton of the quarterback role in the New Orleans Saints. "I think we're in the quarterback business always, because they're so difficult to find. And there's been a year or two we're close to drafting maybe a player and he went a little before we were ready to pick. And certainly you pay attention to it when your quarterback's older."
Although Drew Bees remains one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the league, his age also plays a major role in his career. As the second oldest starter next to Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, there is no doubt that his stint with the New Orleans Saints will be his final one. Hence, many feel that he is ready to welcome talks of a potential successor. Will a Colin Kaepernick contract be the answer to this?
"Do I think he is one of the top 64 quarterbacks in the world? There is no question," said Chip Kelly of Colin Kaepernick. The San Francisco 49ers coach added, "Does he have the ability to play quarterback on a winning team in the NFL? There is no question."
At this point, no official comment has been made regarding a potential Colin Kaepernick contract to the New Orleans Saints. However, the fans of the Drew Bees squad are divided over this matter. It remains to be seen if the former San Francisco 49ers star will eventually call the Michael Thomas team as his new home.
