The Miami Heat are clinging to a possibility of a Chris Bosh trade sometime in the free agency season. While Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic attempt to secure an NBA playoffs spot for the team, Pat Riley reviews the possibilities they can entertain especially in dealing with a seasoned veteran like Bosh. Will the Philadelphia 76ers be a willing NBA trade partner?
The Philadelphia 76ers lack the star power to catapult their team to one of the premier groups in the league. Despite the talent of Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid, they still lack a strong leader that could help the likes of Ben Simmons reach their full potential in the hardwood court. With this in mind, a possible Chris Bosh contract may be considered a good investment for the team.
Rumors are rife that the Miami Heat are holding on to the Chris Bosh contract to hopefully execute a trade in free agency. More importantly, this possibility offers the Hassan Whiteside team the chance to get rid of the huge payout due to the veteran based on his contract. Will the Philadelphia 76ers be the answer to this concern?
"Miami want to keep alive the not-very-likely possibility of being able to trade Bosh (after the season) to a team that might want to trade something Miami wants or a team that believes he could play or (as was the case before last month's trade deadline) a team that needed to get to the cap floor. There were preliminary trade inquiries earlier this season," noted Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
The same possibility was echoed by Simon Ogus of Forbes who said that the Miami Heat are "content to continue to give Bosh a roster spot as they try to make a trade after the season and in advance of the final two years of his contract." He added, "While an acquiring team may have no interest in playing Bosh, they may be looking to satisfy the league's salary cap floor rules and potentially acquire another asset, like a draft pick, while taking the contract obligations off of the Heat's hands."
The Philadelphia 76ers are bursting at the seams with raw talent from their young stars. Although most of their current players have the potential to evolve into an NBA All-Star soon, they still need polishing to the ways of the league. Fans believe that a Chris Bosh contract could be a good decision for Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor and Ben Simmons. The winning mentality of the Miami Heat star along with his leadership skills both in and off the court could serve the young core well.
