The Los Angeles Lakers are busy looking for ways to improve their record following the Kobe Bryant retirement news. Amid the rebuilding efforts of the front office, which saw former Golden State Warriors coach Luke Walton take over from Byron Scott, the team honed fresh talents from the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance, Jr. However, it appears that the Luol Deng squad still lacks a clear cut leader to bring them to the top. Will a Paul George contract solve this problem?
The Indiana Pacers are crawling to secure a spot for the 2017 NBA playoffs as they are currently tied with the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks. With such tight competition in the East, especially with the surging Boston Celtics and thriving Washington Wizards, the Paul George team find themselves fighting hard in every game just to keep their ranking. Despite his efforts, however, many fans believe that this could be the last NBA season of the All-Star in the Jeff Teague team.
Rumors are rife that the lack of championship shot of the Indiana Pacers might push Paul George off the team once and for all. Among the basketball squads eager to sign the All-Star are the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets. However, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to hold the strongest chance as Paul George himself earlier expressed interest in joining the team.
At the moment though, no official comment has been given by the parties tagged in the NBA rumor. However, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers that signing a Paul George contract would definitely boost the confidence of D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson – a possibility that could push them to realize their full potential earlier.
“When he gets hot, we kind of force-feed it to him,” said Jeff Teague of Paul George. “He’s a talented player and we know he can score. It’s tough because you put people in position where they tend to watch. He’s amazing. Some nights like this, guys don’t get a lot of touches, but he’s unselfish. Tonight was just his night and he was making shots.”
What do you think? Will a Paul George contract to the Los Angeles Lakers make sense for the Indiana Pacers star? Will the NBA All-Star finally pull D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance, Jr. out of their shells?
