The Indianapolis Colts are said to be quietly pursuing a Tony Romo contract. Amid the speculations tagging the Dallas Cowboys star with the Houston Texans of JJ Watt and Denver Broncos of Von Miller, the possibility of having the veteran to guide the Andrew Luck squad creeps in and makes others reconsider the option. Will this finally propel the TY Hilton team as serious contenders in the AFC next NFL season?
The Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo are anticipated to reach the end of their relationship soon as Dak Prescott continues to be hailed as the Zek Elliot team's leader. Since the veteran quarterback has no intention of quitting the gridiron anytime soon, a number of NFL teams are said to have expressed interest in signing a Tony Romo contract this offseason. Among the teams, however, it appears that the Indianapolis Colts could be the best option for the star.
Rumors are rife that the Indianapolis Colts feel that a new and stronger leader might be needed to help Andrew Luck carry the team to the top of the AFC. Given the background and experience of Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboys veteran is pressed as one of the most probable support system for the younger star. At this point though, no official comment has been given by the parties tagged in this NFL rumor.
"Remember when making the playoffs was almost a foregone conclusion for the Indianapolis Colts as long as they had quarterback Andrew Luck on the field? That seems like ages ago now that the Colts have missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. Simply having Luck is no longer good enough for the Colts. They need more than the 2012 No. 1 overall pick," said Mike Wells of ESPN.
He further noted, "The days of the Colts being the clear-cut favorites in the AFC South exist no longer. Tennessee continues to add pieces around quarterback Marcus Mariota. The Houston Texans swept the Colts with Brock Osweiler as their quarterback last season."
The addition of a Tony Romo contract to the Indianapolis Colts could bolster the confidence of the Andrew Luck squad. More importantly, this could give the TY Hilton team a legitimate chance at dominating the AFC next NFL season. However, this remains at the speculation stage as long as Jerry Jones refuses to let go of the Tony Romo contract in his roster.
