The Denver Broncos had a disappointing NFL season largely due to the absence of a true leader in the football team. Once dominated by Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, the group had to rely on third stringer Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch for their Super Bowl run. Unlike the remarkable debut of Dak Prescott, however, the Denver Broncos rookie failed to impress the league in his first year. Trevor Siemian also did not live up to the expectations left by the Peyton Manning era. With these in mind, the Von Miller squad is said to be mulling over a Ryan Fitzpatrick contract.
The New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick have been through extensive contract talks both this offseason and the last one. The two parties seem to not reach an agreement on the price tag for the quarterback's talent - an issue that now has the 34-year-old star looking for a job since his contract was voided. Following his inconsistent performance in the 2016-17 NFL season, the once Geno Smith backup failed to impress the New York Jets front office. However, all is not yet lost for Ryan Fitzpatrick.
"Unofficially, the Ryan Fitzpatrick Era ended for the Jets on New Year's Day, after the last game of their 2016 season," revealed Mark Cannizaro of the New York Daily Post. "On Friday, the end to Fitzpatrick's two-year reign as the Jets starting quarterback became a lot more official as his contract was automatically voided, per the scheduled clause that called for this action five days after the Super Bowl."
Rumors are rife that the Denver Broncos are interested in signing a Ryan Fitzpatrick contract. This is not a new move for the Von Miller squad as they attempted to salvage the career of Mark Sanchez last offseason as well. Will a Ryan Fitzpatrick contract be the solution to the quarterback woes of the Denver Broncos?
At the moment, no official comment has been given by the parties tagged in this NFL rumor. However, fans believe that Ryan Fitzpatrick has a better chance of replicating the Peyton Manning era than Trevor Siemian. His leadership role in the New York Jets, which was instrumental to their stunning 2015 NFL season, could revive the Super Bowl dreams of the Denver Broncos next season.
What do you think? Should the Denver Broncos aim for a Ryan Fitzpatrick contract? Will the New York Jets star help out Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch?
