The San Antonio Spurs are looking to regain their top spot in the Western Conference, hoping to beat the Golden State Warriors of Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant as well as the Los Angeles Clippers of DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin this season. Amid the success of Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge and Danny Green in leading the team, it looks like additional reinforcements are needed to push them forward. With this in mind, reports point to a Joakim Noah trade to the Pau Gasol team.
The New York Knicks and Joakim Noah seem to be getting more and more frustrated with each other this NBA season. With Derrick Rose flourishing alongside Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony, the team initially expected the former Chicago Bulls star to do the same as well. However, it appears that the French man has yet to mesh with the group - a situation that the New York Knicks could not afford to deal with this season.
"There's still things I feel like I need to do a lot better. I'm not happy with where I am right now. I feel like I can definitely play better, but I'm not going to get frustrated with the process. I'm giving everything I've got and looking forward to being better with this team, but not being frustrated with the process," shared Joakim Noah of his situation with the New York Knicks.
Aside from his own assessment of things, experts also note that the move of Joakim Noah to the New York Knicks has been filed with frustrating performances this season.
"Joakim Noah has been nothing short of a disappointment during his short time in The Big Apple. The former Chicago Bulls center was given big money (four years, $72 million) to anchor the team's porous defense, but he's been anything but reliable," noted Mike Coppinger of USA Today.
While fans of the San Antonio Spurs are critical of a Joakim Noah trade, rumors are rife that the French man might just be a good fit for the Kawhi Leonard team. Considering the success of fellow former Chicago Bulls star Pau Gasol in the Gregg Popovich roster, some believe that the New York Knicks player could have the same fate. However, no official confirmation or comment on the NBA trade rumor has been provided by any of the parties concerned.
What do you think? Should the San Antonio Spurs consider this NBA trade rumor? What about the New York Knicks? Can Joakim Noah turn things around in time for his teammates to rely on him for their highly coveted NBA playoffs run?
