The New York Knicks are taking the NBA by a storm following the success of former Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose in meshing with Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony. However, the Joakim Noah squad appears to still lack the aggressiveness that can push them to the top. Hence, a Matt Barnes trade is said to be in the works - one that the team members reportedly reject to happen.
The Sacramento Kings have been attempting to build a team around DeMarcus Cousins for quite some time now. Despite the support from Rudy Gay and the front office, it looks like a group could just not be formed to help the explosive center be at his best. With this in mind, fans are calling for a complete rebranding of the Sacramento Kings and the first thing they allegedly want to happen is a Matt Barnes trade.
Rumors are rife that the former Memphis Grizzlies star is once again in the trading block following a controversial night out. Fans believe that instead of helping out DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay, the newly minted member of the Sacramento Kings seems to be messing up the team's dynamic even more. Will a Matt Barnes trade make things better this NBA season?
"We have clear standards of conduct and behavior expected of the entire Kings organization - on and off the court. We are working with all parties involved to gather information in order to take any appropriate next steps," announced the Sacramento Kings following the nightclub incident involving Matt Barnes. Recent reports indicate that the star would be facing charges of alleged assault.
Meanwhile, speculations point to the New York Knicks as the potential landing spot for Matt Barnes. Although some may find it ironic considering his past issues with former head coach Derek Fisher, fans believe that the Sacramento Kings star could make a difference in the Big Apple. Taking cue from the redemption experience of Derrick Rose alongside Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis, many feel that this environment might just be good for Matt Barnes as well.
"So playing with a young kid like [Kristaps Porzingis] and Carmelo [Anthony]and all of the players and things they've done there, so many new faces, I think this just presents a challenge for him that he's really embraced and I can't find a better place to do it every night than Madison Square Garden," shared B.J. Armstrong, the agent of Derrick Rose, of the former Chicago Bulls' experience with the New York Knicks.
He added, "If you can't find a way to get fired up to do it there in New York, you won't find it. So he loves it there. I think there's a good possibility [of remaining in New York long-term], and hopefully as he continues to just build on what he's been able to do thus far and just take it one game at a time and let's just see how it plays out at the end of the season."
The Matt Barnes trade rumors have yet to be commented on either by the Sacramento Kings or New York Knicks. At this point, the remarkable team up of Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis are working hard to get in the NBA playoffs. As for the DeMarcus Cousins team, it remains to be seen how they will handle the issues of the former Memphis Grizzlies star.
