According to Inverse, the second Outlast is really different from the original game. The publication says the sequel will force players to change the way they think about survival. Instead of worrying for a single, terrifying monster, players have to walk through an abandoned village filled with a group of freaks.
In an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, Red Barrels President Philippe Morin said the sequel have longer gameplay than the original game, which only offers 4-hour gameplay. Morin estimated Outlast 2 is 30% longer. Players can still expect the chilling and in-your-face kind of horror, partnered with more complex story.
"We want them to go through the game and keep wondering what the hell will happen next," Red Barrels President explained.
With the advent of VR gaming, it is not too surprising to see Outlast 2 in immersive virtual reality environment. However, Morin said the sequel is not designed for VR gaming, but the development team is considering the new platform in future updates.
Gamers have high hopes for the Outlast 2 because its development team is from different critically-acclaimed titles. The developers of the sequel are also the people behind Uncharted series, Assassin's Creed, and Prince Of Persia.
While waiting for the second Outlast, let's check out what reviewers said about the original game. According to Marty Sliva of IGN, the first Outlast has outstandingly creepy atmosphere that really makes players jump from their seats. Set in a Mount Massive Asylum, players have to roam the halls while defending themselves against deranged mental patients.
With that being said, let's wait for more announcements from Red Barrels about the Outlast 2. Check out the game's gameplay footage below.
