A refreshed version of OnePlus 3 is coming this December. Dubbed as OnePlus 3T, the smartphone's upgraded model is expected to arrive with faster processor and new operating system. In addition, it will offer better screen displays than the current OnePlus 3.
NDTV reported the production of OnePlus 3 has been halted to give way for the upcoming OnePlus 3T. After the device was spotted in China Compulsory Certification (CCC) with model number A3010, many tech experts believe the 3T will be released before the year ends.
CCC is the equivalent of U.S.'s Federal Communications Commission in China.
The OnePlus 3T might become available in December this year, probably around Christmas time, making it perfect for a holiday gift. With the upcoming launching of 3T, the announcement of OnePlus 4 next year might be delayed a little bit.
Chinese phone maker OnePlus has not yet confirmed if the upgraded smartphone will be called OnePlus 3T. There are rumors around the internet that say the phone might be called OnePlus 3s or OnePlus 3 Plus.
As we mentioned earlier, the 3T will have a powerful processor inside. Techno Buffalo reported the smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 821 processor, which is QUALCOMM's latest chipset. The Snapdragon 821 is also present in Google's recently released handset, the Google Pixel.
In comparison to the outgoing Snapdragon 820, the Snapdragon 821 is clocked at 2.4GHz. The latter model can only run for 2.2GHz. QUALCOMM says its new chipset is designed to deliver faster speed, improved power savings and better application performance.
Previous rumors suggested OnePlus 3T will have LCD panels, but OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei clarified that the smartphone will sport an improved Optic AMOLED display. Pei added that the Optic AMOLED technology will be present in future smartphones of the company.
For other features, the 3T will offer 6GB of RAM and 3GB of internal storage like its sibling.
Software-wise, the smartphone will run on Android Nougat, Google's latest operating system and successor of Marshmallow. The Nougat has innovative features like multi-window mode which allows users to open to two applications under one screen.
We expect the OnePlus 3T will cost around $399.
For comparison, let's check out the features of the OnePlus 3. Launched in June 2016, the smartphone has Snapdragon 820 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It also offers 16-MP rear camera and 8-MP front snapper.
