Apple fans will see a refreshed iMac desktop this October. Apple is now sending invites for its Mac-focused "Hello again" event. In it, the Cupertino-based company is expected to introduce the next generation iMac, MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016.
Bloomberg previously said Apple will release a set of new Mac devices before October ends. And as we already know, the publication made a right prediction. The new Mac lineup includes new MacBook Pro, Macbook Air, a standalone 5K monitor and a refreshed iMac desktop.
Previous rumors suggest the new iMac will be introduced together with iPhone 7, and obviously it did not happen. Now, it is confirmed the next Apple keynote event where the iMac will be unveiled happens on October 27th, as per report from Recode.
iMac is known for its high-grade graphics performance that can handle heavy programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere. For the hardware's 2016 version, it might come with the latest video card from AMD or Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
The new AMD chip that would be installed in iMac 2016 is reportedly based on Global Foundries 14 nm FinFET processor node. In addition, the new GPU is two times powerful that the one that is installed in the MacBook Pro.
MacRumors reported earlier this year that AMD has won a contract with Apple to supply new graphics for the upcoming iMac 2016 desktop. Codenamed "Ellesmere", the Polaris 11 GPU will definitely boost the hardware's graphics performance to make it more functional under heavy usage.
Interestingly, a study from global research firm IDC shows there's a decline in Mac sales this year. From 4.8 million in 2015, Mac sales dropped to 4.4 million units in the second quarter of 2016. With the forthcoming announcement of iMac 2016, many tech experts believe it would boost the sales of Apple before the year ends.
For other Mac products that would be unveiled in Hello Again event, expect to see a new MacBook Pro. The 2016 MacBook Pro is said to have a touchscreen OLED strip above the keyboard. The new OLED strip is going to serve as a second screen for the laptop.
Apple is known for keeping the full specs of its upcoming product before launching. So readers are advised to take the iMac 2016-related details above with a grain of salt.
