Relive the glory days of the iconic Nintendo Entertainment System. The improved NES Classic Mini Edition becomes available on Nov. 11, and it contains over 25 nostalgic games. Now, here are the details about the system's pricing and pre-orders at Best Buy, Amazon and Target.
The incredibly cute NES Classic Mini is poised to be a must-have gift this coming holiday season. But interested buyers have to wait for several days as the system is currently out of stock in some retailers.
In Amazon, Best Buy and Target, the NES Classic Mini is listed as "unavailable". Alternatively, buyers can visit Nintendo's official store to preorder the $60 hardware. However, the online store only sells one NES Classic Mini per customer.
Originally released in 1985, the revamped NES Classic promises better quality in visual department. The console comes with an HDMI port so users can connect it to their HDTV. It also offers three display modes for optimum gaming experience, as per report from TechCrunch.
First, there's the CRT filter mode which provides an old-school look that simulates the visual artifacts of an old CRT TV.
The 4:3 mode stretches the image to the proportions of the original NES game. It also blurs the image for classic gaming experience.
Lastly, the Pixel perfect mode projects games with perfect pixel for crisp gaming. This is also the ideal mode of the NES console.
The '80s NES console had more than 700 games, but the 2016's Classic Mini NES only comes with 30 built-in games. However, Nintendo claims these 30 games have better quality in terms of graphics performance. Of course, some of the popular retro games are installed in the system. Buyers can play games like Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber and more.
Meanwhile, fan-favorite games like Castlevania III, Contra and Tetris are not installed in the new console. Also, it does not accept any external media, connect on the internet, or mount any game.
Two-player game is possible. Gamers just have to connect a Wii Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro for the second player. Extra controllers cost $10 each.
Players can also save their game progress. Nintendo says each game has four suspend points, so players can start again where they left off at a later time, no passwords needed.
Nintendo's NES Classic Edition releases on Nov. 11 for $60.
