Finished watching the first season of Jessica Jones? You may have to wait a little longer before seeing its second chapter. Latest report say show runners will finish The Defenders first before releasing Jessica Jones Season 2.
Industry insiders say fans won't see additional seasons of Jessica Jones or Daredevil until after Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders have run their course. In the recent New York Comic-Con, Netflix announced The Defenders premieres on 2017. The entertainment provider also released a teaser for the epic superhero team-up.
According to Den of Geek, Jessica Jones Season 2 might become available on late 2018, probably around November or December. If that's the case, it would be a long time before we see again the superheroine. Interestingly, some fans believe Jones might appear in Iron Fist, which premieres on March 2017, as a way to introduce their upcoming team-up in The Defenders.
Earlier this year, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, confirmed there's a second season for Marvel's Jessica Jones. In addition, the team is reportedly now working on the script and production of the sequel.
"The positive response" of viewers from all over the world to Jessica's story has been encouraging for the producers, Saranados added. They also look forward to deepen the story of Jessica and her world.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, producer Melissa Rosenberg hinted there's a bunch of new villains in Jessica Jones Season 2. Finding another villain with the same impact as David Tennant's Kilgrave is difficult, so showrunners might opt to cast a set of new antagonists in the sequel.
Avid fans of Jessica Jones from the comics are well oriented to the fact that she had a relationship with bulletproof hero Luke Cage (Mike Colter), whose own Netflix series is now available. Several entertainment websites speculate Cage might appear in a couple of episodes in Season 2 to help the heroine.
For now, there's still no definite date for the airing of Jessica Jones Season 2. We expect to hear more from Netflix and showrunners about the sequel in the middle of 2017, after airing The Defenders.
Rosenberg originally created Jessica Jones' series for ABC in December of 2010. Then she decided to develop, produce, and write a new version of the story, which joins the Marvel/Netflix roster of TV shows, including Iron Fist, Daredevil and Luke Cage.
Stay tuned for more update.
