Game director Tetsuya Nomura revealed some interesting details about Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD's cover art, and developer Square Enix announced pre-order bonuses of the game's limited edition. With these updates, it looks like the marketing machine of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts game is now ramping up.
Now, here's what is currently known about Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD release date, update and gameplay.
The limited edition Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue comes with collector's item and gorgeous box art. It contains a specially designed pin featuring Sora and Mickey. The pin is a free upgrade for buyers who pre-order the game.
As for the special box art design, director Tetsuya Nomura said it has clues about the Kingdom Hearts III.
In a report from GameSpot, Nomura said the cover designs of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue were made to show the evolution of Sora's character.
As illustrated in the covers, Sora's movements change from sitting, to standing, to walking. Also, by looking closely, one can easily notice the flow of time in changes in the sky. The Kingdom Hearts 1.5 is in sunset; Kingdom Hearts 2.5 is in the middle of the night, and the Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is in the night breaking into dawn. These three cover designs reportedly have a secret message about the Kingdom Hearts 3, the final chapter of the game.
However, Nomura did not reveal the secret message. As he previously said at this year's E3, the development team won't reveal anything about Kingdom Hearts 3 until Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Final Chapter Prologue becomes available.
The Final Chapter Prologue will be released on January 28, 2017 in western markets and January 12 in Japan. The game will be playable on PS4. In addition, it will arrive with a remastered Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance 3DS game and a new character named 0.2 Birth By Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage -.
Interestingly, Segment Next reported Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue is compatible to PlayStation 4 Pro's enhanced features. The gaming console supports 4K resolution which makes images clearer and richer.
With that being said, let's wait for more updates from Square Enix about the upcoming Kingdom Hearts titles. Stay tuned with us for more gaming news.
