Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of these United States. Lincoln was mentioned in a recent presidential debate and since historians have come forward announcing that a handwritten Lincoln letter is for sale.
The letter is dated 1859, less than 2 years before Lincoln became president of this great country. The letter was written to a certain Peachy Harrison who was on trial for murder at the time. Lincoln, then a lawyer, was part of his defense team. Harrison was ultimately acquitted.
Lincoln wrote encouraging the young man to join in the political process and not to let his youth deter him in any way. The future president encouraged Harrison to help with the campaign of John M. Palmer - the lead prosecutor for Harrison's case. Historians believe that Palmer and Lincoln were friends outside of court.
The Raab Collection announced the sale of this letter recently. It is being sold for $40,000.
