Lionsgate Entertainment are now ramping its marketing machine to promote the highly anticipated Power Rangers 2017 Movie. In a photo posted on Twitter, it looks like the new five main heroes are trapped in a mysterious island and there's a big battle waiting for them.
The Power Rangers social media account recently posted a photo of Jason, Trini, Kimberly, Zack and Billy standing in front of a strange-looking wall. By the looks of it, the Rangers seem to be in an alien planet.
According to Cinema Blend, the big wall could be the entrance to Rita Repulsa's headquarters. For those who can't recall, Repulsa is a villainous witch and enemy of Power Rangers. In the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers TV series, she resided in a flashy palace on the moon.
The newly released photo suggests the Rangers travelled from Earth to Repulsa's base to prevent her from conquering the universe.
As expected, the next year's Power Rangers movie aims to be faithful to its source material. Based on the previously published teasers, the movie is on track to its goal. From the Rangers' new suits to their redesigned Zords, they remain true to the TV series' spirit.
Saban's Power Rangers follows the story of five ordinary high school students who received extraordinary powers. Chosen by destiny, the five heroes must learn to fight together in order to save the planet from evil plans of Repulsa.
The new Power Rangers movie features a bunch of A-list celebrities and newcomers. Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks plays the evil witch Rita Repulsa. In addition, Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston voices Zordon - mentor of the Rangers who is trapped in a tube.
For the Rangers, they are composed of less-popular actors. Naomi Scott is Kimberly the Pink Ranger; RJ Cyler is Billy the Blue Ranger; Ludi Lin is Zack the Black Ranger; Dacre Montgomery is Jason the Red Ranger and singer Becky Gomez is Trini the Yellow Ranger.
Each ranger also owns a Zord, one of the primary weapons of the team. These giant robots can be combined together to form the Megazord. Some of the Rangers' Zords are T-Rex, Triceratops and Mastodon.
The premiere date of the new Power Rangers movie is on March 24, 2017. It is directed by Dean Israelite, the film maker behind Project Almanac (2015).
