According to latest sales charts, developer RockStar Games earned more than $700 Million in GTA 5 Online. With that record-breaking achievement, many believe the development of GTA 6 will be announced very soon.
It has been three years since the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 was released, and many gamers are curious about the release date of its sequel. RockStar Games usually releases new GTA title after 5 years. If that's the case, we might see the GTA 6 on 2018.
Interestingly, some gaming analysts say RockStar officials might announce the development of sixth GTA after GTA 5 got more than $700 million last month. The announcement of the sequel could bring hype and lure more investors. And then with a huge budget, the developer can speed up the development of GTA 6.
According to Daniel Ahmad, a marketing analyst from Nikko partners, the revenue from GTA products has surpassed $700 million-mark in the last 12 months. He also posted a graph which illustrates the growth of GTA 5 sales.
In the first part of 2016, GTA Online reportedly had $500 million revenue through micro-transactions. Then in the last six months, the game made more than $200 million. If we do the math, RockStar games might reach $750 million-mark before the year ends.
Furthermore, Reuters previously reported Take-Two Interactive --RockStar's parent company -- net revenue was on the rise in the second quarter of 2016. From $275.3 million last year, it grew by $311.6 million. In digital sales, the company had 172.1 million this year, a significant increase from last year's $154 million.
Estimates show Take-Two will have $1.75 billion to $1.85 billion for the year 2016. And some of that money can be used for faster development of GTA 6.
Rumors around the internet claim the GTA 6 would arrive with VR support, which is possible given that experts predict 2017 is the year for VR technology. The immersive environment in VR platform will certainly take GTA 6 to a whole new level.
The next GTA might also have the biggest map in the franchise. This huge world map is deemed to be a combination of all cities from the previous GTA titles.
Meanwhile, readers are advised to take the GTA 6-related rumors mentioned above with a grain of salt. RockStar has not yet confirmed or denied anything.
