Samsung, one of the champions of the open source operating systems of Android really should be one of the first to receive the upgrade as soon as it comes available. However, this isn't really the case, as last year's Android version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) did arrive quickly, but not as quick as LG or Google Nexus. Perhaps this year could be different as Android 7.0 (otherwise known as Android N or Nougat) is headed to Samsung, perhaps at a faster rate than usual. This is what is known about the Android Version 7.0 Nougat Release Date for Samsung S7, S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge +, S5, Note 7, and Note 5.
Neurogadget reports that the final build of Android Nougat was released one month ago, but it really needs to be built upon the TouchWiz version of Grace UX. It is expected that the first Samsung devices to receive the upgrade will be the Samsung Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 Edge, as well as the brand new Galaxy Note 7.
According to news from Tech Radar, Samsung will work hard to get Nougat on those particular models within the next two to three months. There is also a report on iSportsTimes saying that Samsung is doing plans on beta testing prior to sending out the Nougat update on eligible devices.
So what other Samsung devices will be getting it? Android Nougat will probably coming to the Samsung S6, the S6 Edge, the S6 Edge +, however, there is not any word on if it is coming to the Galaxy S5 or even the Note 5 for that matter.
The general case of the Android upgrade when it comes to Samsung is that the upgrade begins to roll out in the fall, with the brand new Google Nexus devices getting it first. Samsung devices usually don't see it roll out in the winter of the following year, sometime in January or February.
However, there is a reason to be optimistic for this version of Android. After all, some of the older versions of Google Nexus devices like the 5X and the 6P are getting it. Google is discontinuing the Nexus series, but their latest devices, which should be announced and possibly even launched this week, will have 7.0 on board.
If Google is getting the upgrade earlier, then perhaps other companies will be receiving the Android 7.0 upgrade earlier as well. Perhaps Samsung devices will be receiving their upgrades before the Christmas season, perhaps before Thanksgiving. However, we will have to see on that, and when it comes to Samsung, the older devices will be receiving it last, as follows the pattern of most Android rollouts.
