The rollout of Android Nougat for Nexus devices started on August 22. It has been a month since Google released the update, so we expect many Nexus phones should receive it by now. The latest Nexus smartphones are usually the first batch of gadgets that receive new Android firmware. In the case of Android Nougat, it was initially launched to Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One).

Android Police reported the new OS for the said devices was released on Sep. 15. With that timeline, we expect majority of Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 users should receive the update by now.
Meanwhile, for owners of Nexus 5 smartphone, they are not eligible for Android Nougat update. The Nexus 5 was an excellent device three years ago, but it does not have enough processing power to run the new apps of the Nougat.
For Android One devices, they usually receive new Android system at the same time with Nexus devices. So users of Android One smartphones should expect to receive an OTA update notification in the next few weeks.
