How Do the Vice Presidential Candidates Feel after the First Presidential Debate?
According to CNN Money, the debate of Clinton and Trump on Monday, September 26, 2016 was the most watched debate in America history, with 80 million watching the face off. Naturally, with the vice presidential debate that is happening next, the spotlight has shifted subtly to Tim Kaine and Mike Pence.
Both of the vice presidential candidates appeared on Good Morning America, and the LA Times states that they agreed that both the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates had a good night at last Monday's debate.
However, Mike Pence was upset that Lester Holt, the moderator for the debate, didn't go after Hillary Clinton for some of the issues that Republicans have used against her in the campaign. Tim Kaine stated that Donald Trump looked pretty rattled during the 90-minute debate, but Clinton was ready to keep going.
According to Politico, Kaine spoke to Clinton afterwards, saying that she "really raised the bar". Pence also expressed similar sentiment, even using the same term of raising the bar.
When is the First Vice Presidential Debate?
According to the US Presidential Election News, the Vice Presidential debate will be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. The moderator (Elaine Quijano, CBSN Anchor and CBS News Correspondent) will ask an opening question, after which the candidate will have two minutes to respond. Then the moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion.
The debate will be held at Longwood University in Farmville, VA. It will begin at 6:00 PM Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, October 4 2016 on all major networks like C-SPAN, ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC, as well as all the cable news channels like CNN Fox News, MSNBC, and more.
