Before updating to iOS 10.0.2, Apple device owners may consider waiting for the public release of iOS 10.0.1 Jailbreak. Recently, a 19-year-old hacker reportedly jailbroken an iPhone 7 running on iOS 10.0.1. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about iOS 10 jailbreak release date and rumors on the web.
Luca Todesco, also known as qwertyoruiop, admitted that jailbreaking the iOS 10.0.1 is very hard. He said Apple really tighten its security system to prevent the jailbreaking practice, but the company's defense is still not enough. For those unaware, he also successfully hacked previous versions of iOS 9.0. However, all of his jailbreak tools are not yet released publicly.
In order to prove his latest jailbreak feat, Todesco posted a video on YouTube showing a jailbroken iPhone 7. Interestingly, he published the video just five days after the launching of the iPhone 7, and barely a week after the roll-out of iOS 10.
As of now, it is still unknown if he would make the iOS 10.0.1. jailbreak tool available for everyone. However, popular hacking groups like Team Pangu and Taig could use the bugs that Todesco discovered to release a public version of iOS 10 jailbreak.
For the part of Apple, it declined to confirm whether Todesco's jailbreak is legit. In an interview with Motherboard, the company's representative only said: "I don't but given his track record, I wouldn't be surprised."
Apple discourages its users to jailbreak their devices. On its website, the Cupertino-based company says jailbroken devices are more vulnerable to hackers because it eliminates security layers designed to protect user's personal information.
Jailbreaking an iPhone removes certain restrictions installed by Apple. The process allows users to download and install apps that are not available to the iOS App Store. In addition, it gives users more freedom to personalize their gadget.
According to Ryan Duff, security expert and former member of US Cyber Command, jailbreaking devices may not stop very soon. He revealed jailbreak tools are too valuable to give up. He estimated the latest tools can be priced for more than $500,000.
For those who don't want to install malicious software on their devices, Apple recently released iOS 10.0.2 which is a bug fix for iPhone 7 audio issues. According to Forbes, the new iOS update is aimed to improve the stability of iPhone and iPad devices.
