Known for his strong faith in Christ, former NFL quarterback and current MLB outfielder Tim Tebow recently weighed in on San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick's actions of refusing to stand during the national anthem.
Tebow, currently in the instructional league of the New York Mets organization, was asked about Kaepernick's protest which has mixed reactions across the country.
Tebow, most famously known for "Tebowing", an act of genuflection involving kneeling and praying, has stated he will, for now, keep his thoughts to himself. When asked where he stands regarding Kaepernick, stated, "You know, I think there are lots of people who have thoughts out there. For now, I'm just going to keep mine to myself."
When pressed a little further, Tebow declined to address the social issues Kapaernick is supporting but did say he believes having strong convictions is a good thing. "When people have a belief in something or a conviction in something, trying to stand for that is a good thing. It's all about standing for it the right way," he said.
Colin Kapernick is hoping to raise awareness for what he considers to be social injustice issues. Like Tebow and his strong religious convictions, Kaepernick's actions have drawn both praise and criticism.
