The Power Rangers returns to the big screen next year. Aside from action-packed fight scenes, it is expected to feature new cast members such as A-list celebrities Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston. Now, here's what is currently known about Power Rangers 2017 movie premiere, cast and trailer.
Elizabeth Banks plays Rita Repulsa in the upcoming Power Rangers movie. The characters is a villainous witch and enemy of Power Rangers squad. Viewers of 90's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show (MMPR TV) surely knows this villain who wants to rule the earth.
Also, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is in the movie. He voices Zordon, the mentor of Rangers that is confined in a tube at the command center.
For the Rangers themselves, they are being played by lesser-known actors. Dacre Montgomery is Jason the Red Ranger; Naomi Scott is Kimberly the Pink Ranger; RJ Cyler is Billy the Blue Ranger; Ludi Lin is Zack the Black Ranger and pop star Becky Gomez is Trini the Yellow Ranger.
Recently, high-res photos of the Power Rangers with their Zords are released in public. Check out the awesome photos in a report from Collider. For those can't recall the Zords, they are the giant robots that are controlled by the Rangers. The Zords can also combine their powers to become the powerful Megazord.
Each Ranger has their own Zord. Red Ranger owns the Tyrannosaurus Zord. Yellow Ranger controls the Saber-Toothed Tiger Zord. Blue Ranger fights with the Triceratops Zord. Pink Ranger flies with the Pterodactyl Zord. Black Ranger has the Mastodon Zord.
With the latest technology in computer imaging, we expect the new Zords are much more awesome than the original MMPR TV series.
For those who want to know more about the movie, Lionsgate announced it will conduct a panel at New York Comic-Con on October 8, 2016. The panel will feature the full cast and crew. Of course, it will include a one-hour Q&A portion with the new Rangers. Rumors around the internet claim a new trailer will be released before the much-anticipated event.
Power Rangers (2017) is being directed by Dean Israelite. He is also accompanied by screenwriters John Gatins (Real Steel), Burk Sharpless (Gods of Egypt), Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (Thor).
The new Power Rangers movie hits theaters on March 24, 2017.
