Nintendo has certainly gone out of its way to make certain that even its most loyal fans know as little as possible about the release date of their next generation system, the Nintendo NX. The company is kind of in dire straits after the supposed "failure" of the Wii U, and it hopes to bring its fans back with not only the Nintendo NX but the release of a new game in The Legend of Zelda series with Breath of the Wild. A recent Amiibo might have a clue to the release date of the NX and the next Zelda game.
The Amiibo leak and Nintendo NX Release Date
At this point, I think it is almost safe to say that the Nintendo NX will be released with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on board. Yes, it seems like Nintendo is putting its stock in Link and not Mario, but the release date has been pretty sketchy for either products, but always pointing to an unspecific release date of March of 2017.
However, thanks to what is probably a mistake, the Nintendo UK and Nintendo France's site for the Amiibo figures for the new Zelda game have a release date, according to Games Radar. If you are not familiar with Amiibo, they are some great collectible figurines that are capable of unlocking bonuses within a game.
Generally, an Amiibo is not released after its associated game, and these three Amiibo figures of Archer Link, Rider Link, and Guardian are reported to have a release date of March 4, 2017.
The Zelda Amiibo Link Release Date Doubts
Of course, the fact that these Amiibos have a release date does not mean that the Nintendo NX will be released on the same date. It could be that Nintendo is putting out these Amiibos weeks (at most) in advance to whet the appetite of would-be Nintendo NX/Zelda purchasers.
Also, the date itself of March 4, 2017 is a Saturday, and Nintendo usually does not release its products unless it is a Friday.
By the way, there are several sites that give doubt to the idea that The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild will be released as an included launching game for the Nintendo NX. Nintendo could put any mediocre game on there, and people would play it. It would actually make more sense for the company to release Breath of the Wild separately from the new console.
Nintendo NX Release Date Rumors
According to TNH Online, it is believed that more information about the actual release date of the Nintendo NX will take place in October. It was believed that information would be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, but this just didn't happen.
The University Herald reports that the Nintendo NX will have a screen display of 720p, and will not have discs for games. Yes, it is going back to cartridges, and there are also reports of detachable controllers.
We will see by the time March of 2017 comes around.
