Destiny's new "Rise of Iron" expansion is set to be released next week. While many gamers are looking forward for it, some are waiting for the release of Destiny 2. It is reported that the release of Rise of Iron DLC would pave way for faster development of the sequel .
Now, here's that latest update about Destiny 2 release date rumors. We'll also give the freshest news about Rise of Iron expansion.
In an interview with IGN, Activision publishing CEO Eric Hirshber said majority of game developers at Bungie have already been working on Destiny 2. Hence, the release of Rise of Iron would free up even more developers to work on the sequel.
Hirshberg did not say the upcoming new features for the game, but he assured fans that the sequel is on track for a release in 2017.
The biggest debate surrounding Destiny 2 is where the players would start off. Game developers face a though problem: how to attract first time players while also satisfying long-time players. For sure majority of current Destiny players would not like to see their progress reset to 0, but doing so might help Bungie to attract new players easily. If all of the players start on an even playing field in Destiny 2, no one has the fear of playing at a disadvantage.
For now, there's still no update regarding the contents of the sequel. With the upcoming release of Rise of Iron, we expect to hear more about Destiny 2 sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, GameSpot reported the Rise of Iron expansion will offer a way for players to get boosters using in-game currency. The boosters will give accelerated reputation gain for Vanguard, Crucible and House of Judgement.
For those who don't want to purchase the boosters, they can also be found as a random drop from Sterling Treasure Boxes or Radiant Treasures.
One of the most appealing contents of Rise of Iron is its new story content, which takes place in the snow-covered Plaguelands. The new area is located near Old Russia and is quarantined due to the outbreak of SIVA, a dangerous self-replicating nanotechnology.
Destiny's Rise of Iron will become available on Tuesday, September 20th for $30. It would be accessible in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Destiny.
With that being said, what are your thoughts about the upcoming expansion? Let us know in the comments.
