The Dallas Cowboys are testing the leadership skills of Dak Prescott as he carries the NFL team this season while Tony Romo recovers from injuries. However, his performance against the New York Giants found him falling short the expectations especially with Eli Manning leading the other team. Meanwhile, Paxton Lynch is still looking for his place in the Denver Broncos roster. Looking at both teams, a Dak Prescott trade for Paxton Lynch could be in the works.
The Denver Broncos initially anticipated the Mark Sanchez trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to fill the void left in the quarterback post when Peyton Manning went to retire and Brock Osweiler joined the Houston Texans. However, his weak performance in the gridiron sent him packing to the Dallas Cowboys where he is anticipated to help Dak Prescott to adapt in the NFL. Will Paxton Lynch be the next Denver Broncos star to be sent to the Tony Romo team?
"I thought he did pretty good," shared Gary Kubiak of Paxton Lynch after their loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He added, "[Lynch] continues to make plays because of his ability, but it continues to be about consistency."
Kubiak further noted, "I think the strides he's made since we got him have been very good, and we've got to continue to make some more."
Meanwhile, analysts feel that the Dallas Cowboys are holding back Dak Prescott from reaching his potential. According to Emmith Smith, the Tony Romo squad must learn to let the rookie take on the opponents in the way he knows best. That is, the Dallas Cowboys must loosen the reigns and allow the young quarterback to unleash his potential.
"They need to let Dak go. They need to just let him go," said Smith. He added, "At the end of the day, man, he's your starting quarterback. Quit trying to control everything yourself. Let the kid play. Let the kid play. I see it all the time. They always try to restrict guys all because they're young. You already got him into the fire. He's your starting quarterback. You already made that decision. Let the kid play and let the boys go. Don't hold them back."
Given the situations of both teams, fans feel that a rookie quarterback swap might benefit them this season. The Denver Broncos seem to be in dire need of a quarterback who can easily take over and lead the Super Bowl team. This could easily fit the pace Dak Prescott seems to crave. Moreover, Peyton Manning shared that the young Dallas Cowboys star impressed him in the recent games.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys had made no secret of their regret to have failed to sign Paxton Lynch in the NFL draft. This could present an opportunity for them to rectify their mistake and pursue the rookie. At this point, though, no official confirmation has been sent by any of the parties concerned.
