It is going to be a terrific year for Google with the release date of Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow), and now there is a release date for Android N (also known as Android N or Nougat). As far as Android N is coming, it is already spilling out on newer Android devices such as the Pixel C. There are now some new Android devices coming out, and here is the release dates for new Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
Has Android N (Nougat) Already Come to Current Generation Google Nexus Devices?
For those who have the Nexus 6, the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, and even the Nexus Player, you are in a lot of luck. A report from Know Your Mobile states that after months and months of beta versions, the final build of Android N has arrived on these and even the Pixel C.
Android N (Nougat) Comes to the Pixel C
The Pixel C tablet was a device that was given a strange introduction as of last year. When Google announced the new Nexus devices, the 5X and the 6P, they showed off the C tablet but didn't really include it in their formal announcement. Those new smartphones were the first to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and so did the Pixel C.
The end result was less than stellar as Ars Technica reports that the Pixel C was a "productivity" device that couldn't multitask. Sure, the keyboard was great, but only good for using one app at a time. So it wasn't capable of split screen, which is a feature that Android N is known for.
In case you can't tell, I'm trying to say that the Pixel C now has Android Nougat, which means it is going to be a very capable tablet (or PC, depending on how you look at it). It might be a good time to get one for yourself, if you can find a good price.
Release Date for New Google Phones, the Pixel and Pixel XL
According to Trusted Reviews, it appears that Google has dropped the Nexus brand, for some reason. In return will be the Pixel and the Pixel XL. Both of them are being constructed by HTC, and they will, of course, come with Android Nougat on board.
News Every Day reports that the Pixel (formerly codenamed Sailfish) will have a 5-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It will also have a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM, and 32 GB of storage. It will also have a 2770 mAh battery and USB Type-C charging. The camera will be a 13-Megapixel for the rear and an 8 Megapixel on the front.
As for the Pixel XL (formerly codenamed Marlin) will feature a 5.5 inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution AMOLED display. It will have a Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 128 GB of memory. The camera is a 12 Megapixel job with 8 Megapixel front facing camera, and it also has the USB Type-C charging.
The Google Pixel release date is set for October 4, which is very soon, and the units could be launched along with Chromecast 4K and Daydream VR.
