Contrary to previous reports, Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 did not appear on IFA 2016 in Berlin. The supposed rival of iPad Mini and iPad Air is nowhere to be seen in the event, leaving some to speculate the next-generation Galaxy Tab S might not become available. Now, latest rumors claim Samsung would release the Galaxy Tab S3 in the first quarter of 2017.
GSM Arena previously reported that Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Tab S3 would launch in Berlin, Germany on Sept. 2. As we already know, the launching of the tablet did not happen. Instead, Samsung revealed the Gear S3 smartwatch. The company's new smartwatch has been made available in two variants: the Classic and the Frontier.
The press conference of Samsung at IFA 2016 focused on home technology, and there's no mention about the Galaxy Tab S3.
It is not surprising that many gadget lovers are waiting for the announcement of Galaxy Tab S3. Samsung's Tab S series is known for its the most-affordable, high performance tablet that is perfect for everyday use.
The next-generation Galaxy Tab S is rumored to come in two versions: 8.0-inch and 9.7-inch. Several websites say Samsung would reduce the weight and size of the tablet to make it more handy for users. In terms display, it would have a Super AMOLED display with 2048p resolution.
Inside, it might be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM and 4,000 mAh battery. For storing files, the tablet would have 32GB internal storage which is expandable for up to 128GB via microSD card. Also, an Adreno 510 GPU might be installed for an impressive graphics performance.
Leaked benchmarks from German website revealed the larger Tab S3 9.7in has a score of 4,275 points multi-core (1,225 single-core), while the the smaller Tab S3 8.0in has 4,122 points multi-core (1,312 single-core).
Camera-wise, Galaxy Tab S3 is rumored to offer 8MP rear camera and 2MP front snapper. We expect the tablet would have a pre-installed Android Nougat right out of the box.
