After the appraisal system, developer Niantic is now preparing to release the new Pokémon Go buddy system, where players can walk alongside with their Pokémon to earn exciting rewards and prizes. Latest reports say the feature would become available in the next few days.
In a Facebook post, Niantic explained the mechanics of the upcoming Buddy Pokémon system. The new feature would allow trainers to attach a Pokemon of their choice to their avatar in the game to work like a Pokemon Egg. As the trainer walks around the map, the Buddy Pokemon earns Pokemon Candy, which can be used to power-up and evolve digital monsters. It is also reported that each Pokémon has a different walking range based on their type and rarity.
As for the release date of Buddy Pokémon feature, Niantic said its launching is just "right around the corner." Based on the company's previous releases, it rolls out update every other week, on either Monday or Tuesday. However, it seems that the company did not stick with its typical schedule. We expect the update will become available in the next few days.
For users who don't have automatic updates on their smartphone or mobile device, they are advised to check the PlayStore or iOS app store for updates. It is also recommended to keep an eye on Niantic's Pokemon Go Facebook page and the official Twitter account of the mobile game.
Aside from Buddy system, the much-awaited Pokemon trading feature might also become available. Data miners from The Siplh Road Reddit found keywords like "trade_search," "trade_offer," "trade_response" and "trade_result." These game codes suggest that trainers would be able to trade digital monsters in the future.
Furthermore, players might also see the release of Legendary Pokemon in the next update. Data miners found cryptic keywords like "Activity Catch Legend Pokemon." The addition of Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew and Mewtwo is good news for hardcore players of Pokemon Go.
For new items, game codes suggest there will be a new set of incense to attract a specific type of Pokémon. For example, "Floral-flavored" incense will lure grass/bug type monsters; "Cool" incense is designed to attract water/ice type monsters; and "Spicy" is for fire type monsters.
With that being said, let's wait for more announcements from Niantic and the Pokémon Company regarding the next update of Pokémon Go. We'll keep you posted if there's new information.
