So, now that there is a lot going on with the latest upgrade of Android, also known as version 7.0, or Android N, or just Nougat. LG has been very good about getting the latest to their customers, and the upgrade of Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) is on some of their newer devices. This is the latest news about Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow and Android N 7.0 Nougat Release Dates for LG G5, G4, G3, G2, G Stylo, V10, and V20 on Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and AT&T.
According to Tech Radar, LG has "boldly claimed" that it will have the first new Android Nougat phone that will launch on Tuesday, September 6. This seems really hard to believe, as Google Nexus series phones usually have the latest update, but the times for Android updates are a-changing. In fact, there are reports that the upgrade will come to the Google Nexus devices of the current generation, rather than release the upgrade with the newer ones this year.
Of course, it makes sense that the LG V20 would be receiving the Nougat upgrade first. After all, it is the newest phone from LG. It's pretty obvious what is the next ones down the road, which would be the LG G5, the LG V10, as well as the LG G4 update. Apparently, there are going to be more details released at a press conference.
Speaking of press releases from LG, the LG V20 will be the first phone to showcase Google's In Apps. This is a new search mode feature in the Google app, helping users find content not only from built-in apps including contacts, emails, text messages, and photos. And it definitely said that it will have Android 7.0 Nougat operating system preloaded.
However, according to Know Your Mobile, LG has been very good with its Android updates. From what happened last year with Marshmallow, the company tried its hardest to get that upgrade to the LG G4 (the newest phone at the time) and they did a good job. Odds are, the Nougat upgrade will be out at least for the LG G5 in December.
As far as Marshmallow is concerned, it was taken care of for the LG G4, which has been covered for all carriers. When it comes to the LG G3, it is covered for the Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T. There is a recent report from Know Your Mobile saying that even the LG G2 could be receiving the upgrade. So, what about the LG G Flex 2? It should be getting it, and that goes for the V10, which it might have right now.
In fact, the best advice one can give is if you have a newer LG Android device, it would be worth your while to check the "Settings" menu along with the "System Update" to see if the upgrade is available via Over The Air (OTA). It looks like things are progressing very well for LG, and it shouldn't take long before all of the newer devices have Android M on all carriers, assuming that it isn't already.
