It is confirmed. Show creators Matt and Ross Duffer (Duffer Brothers) announced Stranger Things will return to Netflix for a second season. Stranger Things Season 2 will become available on summer 2017 and its story will take place in the fall of 1984. Now, before the second season starts, fans have one question at the end of Season 1: Is Eleven dead or alive?
According to an article from Bustle, Eleven will appear in Stranger Things Season 2, though how she will return is still up in the air. At the finale of Season 1, she sacrificed herself to kill the Demogorgon monster and save her friends. After that scene, many are wondering whether she is dead or she is transported to the Upside Down.
Rumors around the internet claim the Stranger Things heroine "will be return in some form," which could mean a plethora of things. It might mean that Eleven survived her encounter with Demogorgon. If that happens, then she can attend the Snowball Dance with her crush Mike, something that fans are looking forward.
Furthermore, some fans believe Eleven has been trapped in the Upside Down, and her friends will rescue her in the same way that Eleven helped rescue Will.
In a recently release trailer, it says the next season of Stranger Things is composed of nine episodes. Some of the new episodes are titled "The Boy Who Came Back to Life," "The Brain," and "The Lost Brother."
In an interview with Variety, the Duffer Brothers said the work on season two has already been started for quite some time. Show writers also said the Season 2 would actually be more of a sequel and fans should expect there would be a host of new tensions that need to be solved.
Business Insider reported over 14.4 million people watched Stranger Things Season 1. The supernatural sci-fi thriller is a nostalgia play that draws heavily from '80s movies and TV.
The Season 1 of Stranger Things has a 95% Rotten Tomatoes critic rating, a 96% audience rating and it is one of the most talked-about shows since it was released in mid-July.
Interestingly, the show almost did not happen. Matt Duffer told Rolling Stone that Stranger Things has been rejected 20 times by different entertainment networks before Netflix. Now, it is one of the biggest shows of the streaming service.
