One of the greatest things about Android is that it is open sourced, and it updates itself once per year, assuming that your particular Android device is new enough. HTC has been putting out a lot of very quality Android devices over the years, and a lot of them have the latest version available now, Android M (also known as Android version 6.0 and Marshmallow). It makes sense that HTC would eventually get the latest version of Android, which is Android N (also known as version 7.0 or Nougat). This is everything that is known about Android N Version 7.0 Nougat Release Date for HTC 10, One A9, One M9, and the One M8.
According to Tech Radar, HTC has confirmed it will be bringing Android Nougat to HTC products like the HTC 10, One A8, One M9, sometime around the end of 2016. Generally, HTC has this guarantee that their products that are over three years old don't get the newest version of Android. For example, the HTC One M7 didn't get Android Marshmallow. Therefore, the HTC One M8 won't be receiving any Nougat this time.
This information was confirmed through Twitter, and was probably delivered via Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC. Generally, if you want to see any kind of development on the release date for the new version of Android at HTC, you contact him. That "end of 2016" prediction wasn't given any specific release date, but are you surprised?
So, is it possible that Nougat will come to HTC products at the end of 2016? Well, according to Know Your Mobile, Android Marshmallow showed up on the HTC One M9 last December. That was the latest HTC device back then, which I had at the time. I had it on Verizon, and I didn't quite get it until the beginning of 2016. So, it probably won't show up on HTC products until early 2017 at the latest.
With this new version of Android, it could come out a lot sooner. After all, there have been reports that Nougat will be coming to Google Nexus devices even before the newest versions for 2016 will be even released. This is according to Trusted Reviews, which point to Nexus 5X and 6P saying that these Google devices from last year will be receiving Nougat first. So it is entirely possible that Nougat will be coming to HTC a lot earlier.
The issue with HTC is that some of their particular devices have not received the latest with Marshmallow. Granted, HTC has its flagship devices taken care of like the HTC M9 and M8 are taken care of, but there are several HTC devices that are not really on the radar.
