According to Variety, Finland-based Rovio Entertainment Ltd., creators of the original game, are working on a sequel to the movie. Rovio didn't really give any details on the film, other than the fact that a sequel is being made.
Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta stated that "with the excellent performance of our games portfolio and the fantastic movie, the Angry Birds brand is flying high and we are seeing positive EBIT and cash flow development, while fulfilling our mission to create world class entertainment".
Levoranta also said that "we currently have several exciting new games and other projects in development including new IP". The thing about Angry Birds is hit really was huge, years ago. I'll project a release date of about two or three years from now. Generally, sequels need to space themselves out before audiences forget about the originals, but computer animated films often take years to make. Hopefully, Rovio won't rush Angry Birds 2.
